Leoni expands Automotive Cable Solutions to the ACS Division

The Company’s unit is among the market leaders in standard automotive, special and charging cables

Nuremberg/Roth, 27 April 2023 – Sights firmly set on the megatrends of the automotive industry: Leoni AG has upgraded its Business Group AM to become Automotive Cable Solutions (ACS) Division – thereby underscoring the major importance of the automotive cables business for its cables segment.

As a long-standing supplier to the international automotive industry, the division has a worldwide production network with ten facilities in seven countries and about 3,300 employees. With its wide-ranging portfolio of innovative products, it is among the market leaders in standard automotive, special, and charging cables. As a standalone division, ACS will benefit from synergies from within the group of companies while simultaneously being highly independent in its operating business.

In a challenging market environment, the ACS Division successfully prevailed on the world’s markets in recent years, generated solid growth and reliably positive results. This success is based on our staff members, our worldwide production network and the business’ sharp focus on the megatrends of the automotive industry.

The heavy demand for ACS products calls for ongoing expansion of production capacity, with our facilities in Mexico, China and Hungary being the most recently extended. Markus Thoma, CEO of ACS Division: “As a standalone division of Leoni, we are in a position to continue developing our strengths for the benefit of our customers in the best possible way as well as to successfully guide our proven business model into the future with fresh impetus.”

ACS’ portfolio includes charging cables for electric vehicles that sharply reduce charging times and are approved for all the world’s major markets. In addition, there are high-voltage cables for the interior wiring of vehicles with alternative drive systems. Data cables with transfer rates ranging from a few megabits to several gigabits per second and sensor cables facilitate many of the functions of autonomous driving.
