Nuremberg, 25 May 2022 – In keeping with the stipulated cycle for new appointments, the Supervisory Board of Leoni AG today elected Klaus Rinnerberger as Chairman of the Supervisory Board during its constituent meeting. The Board appointed Franz Spiess as Deputy Chairman.
Klaus Rinnerberger, management board member of Pierer Industrie based in Wels, Austria, has profound sector and market knowledge, also internationally, thanks to his many years of operational work in the automotive component supply industry. Alongside general, operational and strategic aspects, his career particularly also included managing disruptive developments in the automotive sector and gaining experience of restructuring businesses and turning them around as well as of their financing. In addition, he has knowledge of accounting and auditing as well as extensive experience of M&A transactions. Klaus Rinnerberger thus succeeds Dr Klaus Probst who, after five years, no longer stood as a candidate for the Board.
Klaus Rinnerberger, newly elected Chairman of Leoni AG’s Supervisory Board, said: “I thank shareholders and the Supervisory Board for their confidence and look forward to the tasks ahead as well as working with colleagues and management. Transformation and the current economic challenges present Leoni and the whole sector with an enormous task. Overseeing this journey is one of the most exciting jobs to be given at the moment. I intend to perform this in my role for the benefit of shareholders, customers and staff.”
Aldo Kamper, Chief Executive Officer of Leoni AG, said: “On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to thank our long-standing Supervisory Board members and Chairman Klaus Probst for their great commitment and trusting collaboration. With Klaus Rinnerberger and our new Supervisory Board members, we have gained skilled and accomplished personalities who will contribute valuable experience to Leoni AG’s development. I look forward to collaborating constructively in this new composition.”
Dr Klaus Probst, departing Chairman of Leoni AG’s Supervisory Board, said: “After more than 30 years, my long and varied career at Leoni AG is coming to an end. In this time, I was, in various roles, part of Leoni’s transformation from being a medium-sized, German cable manufacturer to a group operating globally. I am convinced that management has set the right course for stabilising Leoni on a lasting basis and successfully taking the company forward. Thank you for your collaboration in a spirit of trust and I wish the Company and my colleagues all the best.”
Employee representatives also elected
Alongside Rinnerberger, shareholders at the Annual General Meeting of Leoni AG had on the previous day already newly elected five other members as shareholder representatives on the Supervisory Board in keeping with the Articles of Association and the stipulated cycle. As proposed, Günther Apfalter, Tom Graf, Dr Ulla Reisch, Karin Sonnenmoser and Dr Lorenz Zwingmann thus additionally joined the Board with large majorities.
Elections within the Company to select employee representatives on the Supervisory Board had already taken place in April. The members elected were Mark Dischner, Martin Hering, Sina Maier, Angela Rappl, Franz Spiess and Carolin Geist. Franz Spiess, first authorised signatory of the IG Metall trade union based in Schwabach, will continue as before to perform his function as Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board.
