Casablanca (Morocco), 11 June 2026 – Leoni, a global provider of energy and data management solutions for the automotive sector, today launched construction work on its new industrial unit in Bouskoura. This strategic investment will enable the creation of almost 4,000 direct and indirect jobs and will support the development of the Group’s activities serving leading global automotive manufacturers.

Among the world’s top five players in automotive wiring systems, Leoni Wiring Systems is present through 40 industrial units across 15 countries. Present in Morocco since 1971, Leoni today employs nearly 20,000 people across 11 production units located in Bouskoura, Berrechid, Bouznika, Agadir and Casablanca. With this new site, the Group will increase the number of its industrial units in the Kingdom to 12, thereby consolidating its position among the key players in the national automotive industry.

“The launch of this new industrial unit is fully aligned with the Kingdom’s strategy to strengthen the local integration rate and consolidate its position within global value chains. The momentum of our automotive industry, now among the most competitive in the world, continues to attract investments from international leaders in the sector. Leoni’s decision to establish a 12th plant in Morocco perfectly illustrates this growth and demonstrates the renewed confidence of global automotive leaders in Morocco, in its industrial vision, and in the Kingdom’s ability to sustainably support the growth and transformations of the global automotive industry,” said Mr Ryad Mezzour, Minister of Industry and Trade of Morocco.

An investment aligned with the Kingdom’s industrial trajectory

This project continues the momentum of the investment agreement concluded in 2023 between Leoni and the Moroccan Government, covering an industrial development program of more than 932 million dirhams designed to support the Group’s growth and sustainably strengthen its presence in the Kingdom.

This momentum has already materialized with the inauguration, in January 2025, of a new production site in Agadir, the first industrial facility in the automotive sector in the region. Representing an investment of 230 million dirhams, this next-generation site, with 19,000 m² of production space, will ultimately enable the creation of more than 3,000 direct jobs.

This investment forms part of the remarkable momentum of the Moroccan automotive industry, today the Kingdom’s leading export sector and one of the most high-performing and competitive industrial ecosystems in the world.

Thanks to the quality of its infrastructure, its qualified human capital and the competitiveness of its industrial environment, Morocco has established itself as a benchmark platform for leading international automotive manufacturers and suppliers. Leoni’s decision to continue its development in the Kingdom illustrates the confidence of global sector leaders in Morocco’s strengths and in its ability to support the transformations of the global automotive industry.

“Leoni Morocco has become a solid and reliable pillar of the Kingdom’s automotive industry. The continuation of our growth reflects not only Morocco’s strategic importance for the Leoni Group, but also our company’s commitment and the confidence we place in the country’s economic environment. By investing in talent, innovation and operational excellence, we are helping to further strengthen the competitiveness of the Moroccan automotive sector and to build, together with our customers and partners, sustainable industrial success,” said Hicham Hannioui, Country Manager of Leoni Wiring Systems Morocco.

A new industrial platform to support the Group’s growth

Developed on nearly 35,000 m², this industrial site has been designed according to the Group’s most advanced standards for industrial performance, digitalization and operational excellence. It will integrate next-generation production capabilities as well as a training centre and an Innovation and Research & Development Centre dedicated to automotive wiring technologies.

This platform will play a key role in the evolution of Leoni’s industrial setup in Morocco by 2027, strengthening its operational flexibility and its ability to meet the needs of its international customers.

“Morocco plays an essential role in Leoni’s global industrial network and is an important pillar of our long-term growth strategy. With this new industrial unit, which will become Leoni’s 12th production site in Morocco, we are continuing our investments in industrial capabilities, innovation and sustainable development while further strengthening our proximity to international automotive manufacturers. In addition, our partnership with Luxshare creates further positive momentum and strengthens our ability to continue growing in this strategic market. This project illustrates our commitment to building resilient operations and creating sustainable value for our customers, our employees and the region,” said Andreas Krifka, Chief Finance Officer Leoni Group.

Morocco, an industrial and export base for Leoni

Present in Morocco for more than 55 years, Leoni has built an industrial base that enables the Group to manufacture automotive wiring systems in Morocco for more than 14 countries. The Group plays a major role in integrating Morocco into the global value chains of the automotive industry.

Anis Kammoun, Chief Operations Officer of Leoni Wiring Systems, stated: “This new industrial unit represents an important step in the development of Leoni’s industrial footprint in North Africa and highlights Morocco’s strategic role. Developed on the basis of our digitalization and automation roadmap, this site reflects our commitment to operational excellence and our ability to seize growth opportunities in the automotive industry, both regionally and internationally. This industrial unit also represents a key element of the Group’s development roadmap and a strong signal of our confidence in the future of this market.”

With this new site in Bouskoura, Leoni continues to implement its industrial roadmap in Morocco and confirms its confidence in the Kingdom’s potential. This investment, achieved through close collaboration with government and local authorities, strengthens the Group’s ability to support the growth of its international customers. It also contributes to the development of an increasingly competitive, innovative and value-creating Moroccan automotive ecosystem.
